Onesteel Wire Rope Plant

Onesteel Wire Rope Plant

Job: To carry out a complete roof inspection on Onesteel’s wire rope plant.

Challenges: To provide detailed photographic and video inspections for the 50,000m2 (approx) of tin and asbestos roofing for the Mayfield West Onesteel plant. Due to the asbestos roofing, having people walk on the roof carries a high level of risk.

Solution: Airsight Australia designed an inspection plan using our advanced multi rotor UAS  with live video downlink using 2 operators as well as an elevated work platform to maintain visual line of sight with the UAV. Allowances during flight planning were made for potential weather and personnel risks though a detailed Safe Work Method Statement.

Results: HD video and hi-resolution still photographs were captured providing detailed imaging of the entire roof line and guttering. Where roof damage was visible via the video monitors the UAV was manoeuvred very close (<3m) where further high resolution images were acquired to provide an extra level of decision making information.

The job was completed within 6 hours and data delivery was made within 9hours.
